I am a mature, reliable and compassionate lady and was a full time carer to my own mother who had Alzheimer's. I now work part time for the Alzheimer Society as a HCW. I understand the needs, challenges and frustrations that can occur with all forms of dementia, both for the caree and their family. I am available in the Duhallow area (Kanturk, Newmarket, Millstreet, Rathmore, Boherbue, Cullen etc) for regular care work or simply to give a family carer a much-needed break. I have completed the following courses: QQI 5 Care of the Older Person, Care Skills & Palliative Care; Patient Moving & Handling; Dementia – Understanding and Managing Challenging Behaviour; Dementia Care – Staying Connected & Living Well; Insights into Dementia (Alzheimer Society of Ireland). I have a full, clean Irish driving licence and have my own transport. I can provide companionship and conversation, prepare meals if required, monitor medication, undertake light household or garden work, care for pets, assist with getting dressed, laundry etc, and generally provide whatever assistance is required to maintain a person's dignity and well being in their own home......
