My name is Alison, I am 30 years old and I have been working in the care and attention of vulnerable people for more than 12 years and it is a very rewarding job that fulfils me on a personal and professional level. I believe that this profession brings growth and humanity and this makes us live a little closer to others. Service to others, active listening and above all caring with respect and empathy for people who are in a vulnerable situation and need help are the perfect formula for the ideal profession. I am trained as a social care worker and I have worked in nursing homes, day centres, hospitals, centres for people with physical and intellectual disabilities, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal cord injury, among other ailments at hospital and social level. I have carried out cognitive therapies, therapies for the development of fine psychomotor skills, accompaniment, personal hygiene, nappy changing, showering in bed, postural changes, enteral feeding and feeding of people with swallowing problems. In addition to these I have taken courses in first aid, food safety, manoeuvres and handling, preparation and administration of medicines among many other tasks that I have carried out as part of my responsibilities......
